Focus Country of the Leipzig Book Fair 2017
Lithuania wants its presentation at Leipzig to focus on the state’s 100-year anniversary (the Lithuanian state was founded in 1918) and on Lithuania as an integral part of Europe.
Readings, discussions, debates on current political topics, photography and film viewings, and modern art presentations (for example – composer Artūras Bumšteinas’ “Organ safari”) have been planned for the 2017 Leipzig Book Fair. An event has also been planned for the 100-year anniversary of Johannes Bobrowski (born on 9 April 1917).
Another point in the program will be a presentation on the work of young Lithuanian book publishing artists and a study on the historical gastronomical ties between Germany and Lithuania. Each guest at the Leipzig book fair will also receive a gift – a collection of cultural and historical essays about the art, history and culture of the modern Lithuanian state.
