The independent publishers' programme

In the forum for independents called “Die Unabhängigen” and on the Indie-Bühne [Indie Stage], independent publishers showcase their authors, books and themes.

Many independent publishers are also represented at the Leipzig liest reading festival, with events taking place across the city of Leipzig.

The forum for independents called “Die Unabhängigen” is a project of Leipzig Book Fair and the Kurt Wolff Foundation.

In the evening, the forum moves into the city for the late edition called “Spätausgabe”.

Kurt-Wolff-Prize

The annual Kurt-Wolff-Prize is being awarded for lifetime achievement, a complete works, or the exemplary publishing programme of a German or Germany-based independent publishing house at Leipzig Book Fair.

The Kurt-Wolff-Prize 2026 was awarded to the editing house Edition Tiamat.

The Kurt-Wolff-Grant 2026 was awarded to Starfruit Publications.
